Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Cidney and kidney health screening.

About the Test

Cidney measures your Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio (ACR) — the gold standard screening test for early kidney damage. It detects protein (albumin) in your urine and uses creatinine to confirm accuracy.

Cidney uses the same lab-grade colorimetric chemistry found in doctor's offices and clinical laboratories. It is CLIA Waived and FDA-recognized for over-the-counter use.

A lab ACR test requires a doctor visit, prescription, and 3–7 days for results. Cidney uses the same chemistry but gives you a screening result in 60 seconds at home.

Using Cidney

Dip the strip in urine for 1–2 seconds, place pad-side up on a tissue, wait 60 seconds, then compare pad colors to the chart on the bottle.

First morning urine provides the most consistent results. Avoid testing after strenuous exercise, during a fever, or during a UTI, as these can cause false positives.

Retest in one week with first morning urine. If still abnormal, photograph your strip and consult your healthcare provider.

THE GOLD STANDARD

What is ACR?

The Albumin-to-Creatinine Ratio is the test doctors use to detect early kidney damage — before symptoms appear.

Albumin

A protein that healthy kidneys keep in your blood. When kidneys are damaged, albumin leaks into urine — the earliest warning sign.

Creatinine

A concentration marker ensuring your albumin reading is accurate regardless of how dilute your urine sample is.

The Ratio

By comparing both, Cidney gives you a reliable screening — the same method recommended by KDIGO, ISN, and the ADA.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps. One minute.

1

Dip the strip

Hold in urine stream for 1–2 seconds or dip in a clean cup. Place pad-side up on tissue.

2

Wait 60 seconds

Compare albumin pad at 50 sec and creatinine pad at 60 sec to the color chart.

3

Know your status

Normal means kidneys are filtering well. Abnormal means consult your doctor — early detection saves kidneys.
